Steps to stake crypto

Staking is a feature that allows you to put your crypto to work on its network to earn protocol rewards. These rewards come from the network in return for helping keep it secure. On Rain, you can stake your ETH and SOL directly through the Rain app.

Here's how:

  1. Make sure you have ETH or SOL balance in your wallet. If you don't, you can start by buying first.

  2. Go to your wallet and select ETH or SOL.

  3. Tap Stake.

  4. Enter the amount you wish to stake.

  5. Review the staking details, including the APY, bonding and unbonding periods, and fee breakdown.

  6. Tap to confirm and start staking.

You can track your protocol rewards in the app as they build up. You can also unstake at any time, and your assets will be ready to trade once the network's unbonding period ends.

Note that protocol rewards are indicative and variable. They depend on network conditions and aren't a fixed return.

Important Staking terms:

Protocol rewards: the rewards that the network gives you for staking your crypto. These rewards are paid in the crypto you stake.

APY: the acronym refers to “annual percentage yield” and it is the estimated rewards you could earn over a year. It's indicative and variable, not a fixed or guaranteed return.

Bonding period: the time between when you start staking and when your crypto starts earning rewards. The network sets this period, and you'll see it before you confirm.

Unbonding period: the waiting time after you unstake. Your crypto can't be traded until this period ends, which is a time period set by the network. You will be able to review the unbonding period before you confirm.

Unstake: to stop staking and to get your crypto back into your wallet. You can unstake at any time on Rain, but your crypto will only be available to you once the unbonding period (defined above) is over.
